Digitalization & Connectivity: Pathways to Women’s Economic Empowerment and Inclusion in Africa
There is a market gap of 1.1 billion women globally, including 200 million women in Africa excluding North Africa, who do not have access to mobile internet.
Africa has the lowest number of people using the internet globally, and the gendered gap in usage has increased for Africa from 20.7 per cent in 2013 to 33 per cent in 2019.
Without increased digital adoption and use, girls will have fewer employment opportunities and will face additional barriers to workforce participation.
Under the leadership of the VP of Special Projects, Grace Karanja, Globesat Communications is looking to provide pan African connectivity, capacity building and skills training through new innovative schemes and partnerships.
By harnessing the emerging young female Africa talent, Globesat will bring communities online and solve the issues of poor connectivity and increase the chances of accessibility to education and vocational programs for young women and adolescent girls.
She is also looking at increasing reach that will empower young woman and communities to connect through social network platforms such as Facebook and Tik Tok expanding their pan African reach by sharing experiences , wealth generation and communities.
